The Best New Things to Do in Canada
Congratulations to Dakota Dunes Resort, Qaumajuq, and Ace Hotel.
Allmar Inc was excited to see quite a few of our projects make the list of “Best New Things to Do in Canada” from Condé Nast Traveler! Congratulations to Dakota Dunes Resort, Qaumajuq Winnipeg Art Gallery and Ace Hotel and to all the architects, contractors, trades, and vendor partners represented in these projects.
The Ace Hotel in Toronto’s Fashion District is the first Canadian site for this boutique hotel group, bringing a unique luxury aesthetic developed by Zinc Developments and designed by Shim-Sutcliffe Architects, recipients of the 2021 Gold Medal by the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada. In homage to the rich history of industrial buildings in the former warehouse neighborhood, the design features red brick and exposed board-formed concrete, left unadorned as a celebration of process.
Built to pay tribute to Indigenous designs, Dakota Dunes Resort is nestled within a beautiful river setting and surrounded by gently rolling natural sand dunes located on the historic Whitecap First Nation, Saskatchewan. Qaumajuq in Winnipeg, Manitoba is the largest and the first-ever museum dedicated to representing Inuit culture, with an exquisite building and an impressive art collection that is finally out of storage and on display.
Check out the article and enjoy planning your next trip to take in these great Canadian destinations!
